Expanded Choreography. Situations, Movements, Objects...

An encounter to reflect on the following premises: how the notion of choreography can be extended beyond the field of dance, and how it can be associated to theories and practices that relate situations, movements and objects to the social milieu.

A series of lectures will be alternated with conversations, discussions, panels and coffee breaks. The participants will experience the exhibition "Retrospective" by Xavier Le Roy as well as other significant works. The intent of the conference is to introduce different perspectives and locate a departure point for a discourse particular to choreography as an expanded practice away from artistic research and into other worlds.

The conference will result in a major anthology.

Organisation: University of Dance and Circus Stockholm, Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA), Mercat de les Flors, and Fundació Antoni Tąpies, with the support of The Swedish Research Council and the Swedish Arts Grants Committee.
Dates: Friday 30 and Saturday 31 March 2012 (times to be determined).

To accompany this conference, a reading group will meet at the Fundació Antoni Tąpies on alternate Thursdays at 6.30 pm. Attendance is free and open to all, texts will be both in Spanish and English. More information here.
